DP en JC Goosen Boerdery

Goosen Boerdery was established in1861 by Johannes Cornelis Goosen, the ancestor who bequeathed his legacy to a long line of JC and DP Goosens, who followed in his footsteps.

The Goosen Family started farming on Jagerskraal, Prince Alfred’s Hamlet during 1861 and is one of the oldest farming families in the area. Born from a lineage of pioneers, the management of the business currently lies with 5th and 6th a generation which consists of Danie, Janus and JC Goosen as directors of the company.

The company consists of three farming units, Jagerskraal (Prince Alfred’s Hamlet), Ou Stasie (Wolseley) and Nuutbegin (Rawsonville). Farming on both sides of the Skurweberg Mountain range has the benefit of two climate zones and the opportunity to grow a wider range of varieties from early to late season.

The Group produces a wide range of products on 480 hectares of cultivated land which consists of pome fruit, stone fruit, vineyards and vegetables. Since the three farming units are situated in 3 different climate zones.

The Group has the benefit of growing a wider range of varieties resulting in the ability to supply products for a much longer period throughout the season.

Goosen Farming & Denou Farming

In 2003 the Goosen family started a BEE company called Denou Farming, which is owned by the Den Haag Workers’ Trust and the Goosen Family.
