Our People / Social Responsibilities
Goosen Boerdery recognises its social responsibilities towards its work force and its families.
Educational, social and sport programmes are encouraged not only amongst the workers but also their children.
Ou Stasie Farm Crèche is up and running for almost 20 years and is continually upgraded. It functions 5 days of the week with 3 permanent staff members taking care of 30 children between the ages of 3 months and 5 years old.
Goosen Boerdery supports the cricket and rugby teams of the local communities.
Workers are encouraged to attend Youth, Women’s and Men’s Days to broaden their horizons and to stimulate and let them experience fields of interest outside their work.
Free transport to work every day and transport is also provided for sports matches.
The Medical Clinic visits each farm every month during working hours.
Permanently employed Maintenance- and building teams take care of workers’ houses and gardens by helping them maintain and take care of their houses thus encouraging pride in their living-space.
Community halls & TV Rooms are available for functions and church gatherings.
Broader community: ongoing support is given to local churches, schools, crèches and old age homes by donating fruit and vegetables and acting as mentors.
We also use Procare social services to support the workers with social issues.
